Our founder and CTO, Oskar Boëthius Lissheim, just published the latest instalment of his "Building Multiply" series, this time on Shape Up and why a fixed appetite matters more than ever now that agents can build fast. We've adapted it below. Read the original on LinkedIn.
A fixed point
In 2024, Oskar read a blog post about a solar eclipse and wrote a date two years out in a document. Last month he stood on a hilltop in La Rioja and watched the sun go out: ninety seconds, at a minute nobody could negotiate.
The only fixed point in the trip
It was the only fixed point in a nineteen-day trip. The ferry they wanted no longer existed, Amsterdam got cut, and the trip was better for it.
Fix the appetite, let the scope bend
That's Shape Up: fix the appetite, let the scope bend. Now that agents build a week's feature in less than a day, that fixed number is the only thing standing between you and a product nobody shaped.
This is part of an ongoing series on how we build Multiply. Read Oskar's full essay on LinkedIn.
